SoCore Energy Helps to Connect the Unconnected

May 19, 2016

Although WiFi may now seem like a basic, essential utility to most people in the US, there are still many communities and neighborhoods that are unconnected and without internet access. South Shore, Chicago was one of those communities – until today.

SoCore Energy has collaborated with Leave No Veteran Behind, Cambium Networks and Blue1647 to equip the Windsor Park Evangelical Lutheran Church with first-class, high speed internet available to use by all South Shore community members. The WiFi hardware and broadband system, generously provided by Cambium Networks, is powered by solar panels that have been donated by SoCore Energy. Members of Leave No Veteran Behind helped coordinate the project and aided in the connection process.

With the Windsor Park Evangelical Lutheran Church now serving as a public WiFi hub where all are welcome, community leaders used the high-speed network to install video surveillance cameras to increase security and safety at the location. Giving back to our Chicago community is something that is very important to the employees at SoCore, and we hope that our contributions can open up new opportunities for the people of South Shore.
