SoCore Energy Founder Pete Kadens Honored with Catalyst Award at 2015 Streetwise Gala
On Thursday, October 1, SoCore Energy employees attended the 2015 Streetwise Gala at the Museum of Broadcast Communications in Chicago. Streetwise, Inc. is an organization committed to helping Chicago’s homeless population, and those at risk of homelessness, out of poverty. Through a combination of supportive social services, workforce development resources and access to gainful employment, Streetwise gives “a hand up, not a handout.”
Giving back to the Chicago community, whether it be donating our time or resources, is very important to SoCore and right in line with our company’s values. We enjoy supporting Streetwise and its vendors, and attending the gala event is just one of the ways we can do so. SoCore’s co-founder Pete Kadens has been involved with Streetwise for many years, and now serves as Chairman of the Board. Kadens received the Catalyst Award at this year’s gala for his overwhelming support and commitment to the organization over the years. Speeches were given prior to presenting the award to Kadens, which made it apparent how many lives he had changed. Through his positive words, entrepreneurial advice and constant encouragement — something we’re lucky to see every day in the SoCore office — Kadens helped so many Streetwise vendors to find the motivation and strength within themselves to get back on their feet and start fresh. Upon accepting the award, Kadens said, “I got involved with Streetwise to give back, but I’ve realized that what I have to give doesn’t compare to what this organization and the people involved have given to me.”
We at SoCore Energy are all very lucky to have the opportunity to give back in this community, and work with organizations like Streetwise that can put things in perspective for us when life is moving fast.
